Many people are pleasantly surprised on arrival to find that, even though Citywest Hotel is close to the city, it’s actually in the countryside, with beautiful farmland, parkland and woodland all around it, in addition to the 240 acres immediately surrounding the hotel.
The village of Saggart owes its roots to the Monastery of St. Mosacra. Though built in the 7th century it was destroyed by the Vikings in the 9th Century. There are standing stones and other megalithic remains that suggest the areas was occupied well before the Christian period.
There are many parks and villages to explore in the area. For anyone with a love of the great outdoors, there are a great many mountain tracks to be discovered, some of them very close to the hotel itself. For details visit www.dublinmountains.ie
